The Zomi Political Coordination Council (ZPCC) Liaison Office in Chiang Mai, Thailand, solemnly commemorated the 78th Anniversary of Zomi National Day on February 20, 2026, with representatives, community leaders, and families in attendance.
The program was led by the ZPCC Federal Affairs Director and brought together members of the Zomi community residing in Chiang Mai, including representatives of the Seven Political Alliances, reflecting coordinated civic participation and political unity.
Reaffirming National Identity and Collective Mandate
In his address, the Federal Affairs Director emphasized the enduring historical significance of February 20 as a defining moment in the political consciousness and identity of the Zomi people. He underscored the importance of unity, disciplined coordination, and adherence to the Zogam Charter framework during this transitional political period.
The ZPCC affirms that its mandate is grounded in national consultation and collective consensus. The Zogam Charter and its interim governance framework were formulated through engagement with churches, civil society organizations, elected representatives, community leaders, and the Seven Political Alliances, thereby reflecting the unified political will of the Zomi people.
Diaspora Engagement and Structured Coordination
The Chiang Mai observance demonstrates the continued engagement of Zomi communities beyond Zogam’s territorial boundaries. Even outside the homeland, Zomi National Day remains a unifying symbol of shared history, resilience, and responsibility.
The program included commemorative reflections, messages of solidarity from community representatives, and concluded with a fellowship meal hosted by ZPCC.
