The Zomi Women Volunteer Corps (ZWV Corps) has officially begun its mission under the Department of Women Affairs of the Zomi Political Coordination Council, marking a significant milestone in organized women-led civic service within the Zomi national movement.

The Corps’ inaugural action centered on an act of compassion and solidarity—standing with a wounded Zomi warrior and his family. This first outreach symbolically reflects the core values of the ZWV Corps: honoring sacrifice, strengthening unity, and translating national commitment into tangible care for those who bear the cost of resistance and survival.

Established in accordance with the ZPCC framework and guided by its adopted bylaws, the Zomi Women Volunteer Corps is envisioned as a structured, disciplined, and mission-driven body of Zomi women dedicated to service in times of crisis, recovery, and long-term nation-building. Its mandate spans humanitarian assistance, community mobilization, social support, advocacy, and moral encouragement across Zogam and the global Zomi diaspora.

ZPCC officials noted that the formation of the ZWV Corps is not merely organizational, but historical. It reflects the long-standing yet often under-recognized role of Zomi women as pillars of resilience—supporting families, sustaining communities, and standing firm during periods of displacement, conflict, and uncertainty.

“This beginning is intentional,” a representative from the Department of Women’s Affairs stated. “By standing first with a wounded warrior and his family, the Zomi Women Volunteer Corps affirms that compassion is not secondary to struggle—it is central to it.”

The Corps operates in alignment with the Zogam Charter and the broader ZPCC vision for inclusive participation, dignity, and shared responsibility in the Zomi national cause. With chapters envisioned across regions and countries, the ZWV Corps is expected to grow into a unifying platform for Zomi women who are committed to service, discipline, and collective action.

As the Zomi Political Coordination Council (ZPCC) continues to strengthen its institutional structures, the launch of the Zomi Women Volunteer Corps stands as a clear declaration: the Zomi movement advances not only through leadership and defense, but through compassion, unity, and the faithful service of its people.
